We ran our first season in 2018 with excitement, and we've only gotten happier!
The start of a new adventure
Nadat wij enkele jaren in Guinee hadden gewoond en gewerkt, kozen wij ervoor terug te verhuizen naar Nederland.
Wij kochten een huis in Almere waar we 20 jaar met ontzettend veel plezier hebben gewoond.
Na de verhuizing is de liefde voor kamperen begonnen. Onze buren in Almere, Karin en Eric, namen ons de eerste keer mee op kampeervakantie.
Our family, consisting of Rosalie, Ruud, Walter, Rutger and Guido, all travelled to France together in a Suzuki Alto. We all loved it. The following year, we went again, this time with a trailer attached to the Suzuki. The trailer got bigger, and when the boys no longer had enough room in the back seat, we got a bigger car. They were wonderful, relaxing holidays.
We hebben jaren lang kampeervakanties gehouden, vaak met dezelfde buren. Zij kregen het idee om een camping te kopen en gingen opzoek.
Voor hen bleef het daarbij, maar bij ons was er een zaadje geplant. Leuk, om te gaan doen wanneer we met pensioen zijn. Voor de gezelligheid en om prettig van te kunnen leven, was onze gedachte.
Ook onze twee oudste zonen waren geïnspireerd. Zij wilden niet zo lang wachten, en al helemaal niet met een paar tentjes. Het moest een echte camping zijn, aan een echte rivier! En ze wilden mee!
After ten years of searching together, we found Le Clos Bouyssac and we knew immediately that this was our campsite!
How our adventure is unfolding
Dit jaar, 2025, gaan wij ons achtste seizoen draaien. We hebben er weer zin in! Wij vinden het hier geweldig en we hopen jullie ook!
Inmiddels is onze gezinssamenstelling veranderd. Eind 2021 hebben wij helaas afscheid moeten nemen van Ruud, maar toch is de familie gegroeid. Tessa, de vriendin van Rutger en Emilie, de vriendin van Walter, wonen en werken op de camping. Sinds 2023 woont en werkt ook onze goede vriend, Hidde, bij ons.
We work together on our dream in and out of the camping season. We do most of the work by ourselves; maintenance, rebuilding, design, anything really... Trust us when we say that we are never bored! We really enjoy showing all of you what we have been up to over the winter. Secretly, we are a bit proud of our work.

"Jaren heb ik een fotostudio gehad in Almere
. Het leek mij fantastisch om na ons pensioen een camping te runnen om zo, andere mensen een mooie vakantie te bezorgen. Het landschap en de omgeving hier vervelen mij nooit. Ik vind dit werkelijk een klein paradijs."

"I love being outside. I Like building new facilities or accommodations with my brother. Coming up with creative solutions to lift this place up to it's true potential is what makes me a happy man."
Rutger
"I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wanted to learn all kinds of things and do parts of them. That job is actually available here. I can do it all, be a timber, a barista, bartender, teamleader, plumber and sometimes a photographer. I love it here."
Emilie
"I am French, a former English teacher coming from Aveyron, a french département quite similar to the Lot. It was hard not to fall in love with this place. Being surrounded by beautiful nature is an every day pleasure. I am also able to do a lot of activities, like cooking, baking, being a barista and many other things!"
Tessa
"I am often described as someone with 101 hobbies and ideas. Choosing one thing for the rest of my life was something I did not imagine for myself. Here I can use my hobbies for work purposes, express all my creativity and ideas in one place. I have embraced the outdoors and nature with love."

Of course, we cannot do it alone. So far, every season we are reinforced by our staff, friends and acquaintances who want to work with us. It is very special to work with a group of people who did not know each other before the season and say goodbye to each other after the season as a real family. Tears and all!
